Yad Vashem invite you to explore their online exhibition called, ‘Spots of Light – To be a Woman during the Holocaust‘ that attempts to reveal the human story that resides behind the historical account of what happened during the Holocaust.

This exhibition attempts to reveal the human story that resides behind the historical account of what happened during the Holocaust.

The Holocaust was a watershed event in human history – an act of murder and violence that the Nazis and their accomplices unleashed against the Jewish people. Death awaited all who professed the Jewish faith, and the path to this denouement was paved with ghastly violence. In certain respects, however, women, men, and children followed different paths to death. Within this story, “Spots of Light” tells the story of the Jewish women who were victims and creates a space for their unique voice.

The exhibition gives an expression to the unique voice of Jewish women in the Holocaust; their choices and responses in the face of the evil, brutality and relentless hardship that they were forced to grapple with.

Topics covered in the exhibition include; Love, Arts, Faith, Caring for Others, Food, Motherhood, Womanhood, Partisans and Underground, Everyday Life and Friendship.
