New Director of Education appointed in our Diocese.
Catherine Craig says, “I am delighted to have been recruited to the permanent role of Director of Education for the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle. It is an honour and privilege to work on behalf of Bishop Stephen to serve our Catholic schools and support them in their provision of an outstanding Catholic education.
“I believe that I am very fortunate to have received a Catholic education from the age of two until eighteen years. Then undertaking my teacher training in Trinity and All Saints College in Leeds (Now Leeds Trinity University) and would like the children in our Diocesan schools to benefit from this too.
“Passionate about Catholic education, I have been a teacher in schools for over 30 years. Working in St Oswald’s Catholic Primary School in Wrekenton, St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Gilesgate as Deputy Headteacher, then Co-Headteacher and most recently as Headteacher at St Godric’s Catholic Primary School in Framwellgate Moor, Durham. I have enjoyed all the experiences that my career has provided for me and have been delighted to work with great children and members of staff.
“As Director of Education, I am keen to work in partnership with our Catholic Education Trusts, Headteachers, Directors, Governors and Clergy to provide the best possible Catholic education for the children in our Diocese. I am fortunate to have the support of an exceptional education team, and we aim to provide a valued, reliable and responsive service to you all. Therefore, if we can be of any help or support to you, then please do not hesitate to contact us.”
