On Friday 24 January, schools across our Diocese launched their Jubilee Year by opening their own Holy Doors during a celebration of the word. This marked the beginning of their Holy Year and each month they will be focusing upon a theme linked to hope and pilgrimage allowing the children the opportunity to develop their understanding of the Jubilee Year.
Some of the themes that the children will be exploring during the Jubilee Year include local pilgrimages which will link to the CAFOD Big Lent Walk. Taking hope home; this will be an opportunity for students to take their work home and share their learning with their families. There will also be a Diocesan wide competition for schools where the children will be asked to capture images that they believe shows hope, plus many more during the year.
In June, all schools will be taking part in a Jubilee celebration, where they will pledge to stand in solidarity as pilgrims of hope, working together for God’s kingdom of justice, peace and love. They will take time to reflect on their mission as Catholic school communities. It is a chance for everyone to deepen their faith, shine the light of hope and take a pledge to build a better world together, so that everyone can live life to the full.
