An update from Sara Bryson:

Congratulations to you all on being finalists at the North East Charity Awards, for Outstanding Contribution to Social Change. Sadly, we didn’t win, but Tyne & Wear Citizens were Highly Commended. The Leadership Team collected the award on your behalf. This is important recognition for all of the work you all do.

We have a busy few months ahead!

Tyne & Wear Citizens Members Meeting

An online event, bringing together all member institutions of Tyne & Wear Citizens to celebrate wins, plan a joint action & plan for the Accountability Assembly in March 2022. All members to send a delegation.

Tyne and Wear Citizens are holding a members meeting on Thursday 11 November from 6.00pm – 7.30pm online via zoom. They are asking all member institution to send a delegation to this crucial meeting for our alliance. Please encourage as many people to attend as possible. All members must register in advance for this meeting. Once registered, zoom link and details will follow.

We will need one person from the Diocese to take part in the Roll Call, someone willing to speak on behalf of your institution. They will be asked to pledge turnout for the March assembly. So have a discussion about how many people you can bring to the March assembly and be ready to announce that figure on the 11th November. As always, our turnout is a demonstration of our power, so we will be looking to engage at least 1000 people from across the alliance.

Living Wage Week w/c Monday 15 November

We will be circulating a full programme of events for Living Wage Week soon.

You can also take part in the social media activity to celebrate 20 years of the Living Wage Movement, happening online all week, by liking and sharing the Foundations posts.

Details of an action at Sunderland University will be shared at the meeting on the 11th!

Please make sure you have the date and time in your diary Thursday 9 December 6.00pm – 7.30pm we hope to be offering a blended AGM this year with the options of taking part in person or online. Further details to follow. In the meantime, if you would like to nominate anyone for our annual awards and recognition do get in touch with Claire or I. This is a light-hearted way to share and recognise those leaders and institutions who have done amazing things over the past year to bring about social change and challenge injustice.
