As part of the Year of Jubilee 2025, Pope Francis has called us to consider how we are Pilgrims of Hope in today’s world.
As we celebrate the Year of Jubilee 2025, and in particular for the Jubilee Day of People with Disabilities (28 – 29 April), let’s embrace this special time with renewed hope and determination. This Holy Year symbolises mercy, forgiveness and understanding for all.
God has created every person with love and purpose, made in His divine image. This profound truth means that each of us, regardless of our abilities or challenges, reflects His beauty and grace. Your unique qualities and experiences are a testament to the diversity and richness of God’s creation. Embrace your individuality, knowing that you are wonderfully made and deeply cherished. Your life has immense value, and your presence brings light and inspiration to the world. Always remember, you are a reflection of God’s love, and your journey is a powerful testament to His unwavering care and compassion.
Sara from the SVP Deaf Centre Youth Group community in Newcastle offers an inspiring poem titled ‘I am Deaf’, which can be viewed below.
Our message of Hope for this year is to bring a greater understanding to the world about people living with disabilities. May this Year of Jubilee be a year of greater understanding, compassion and endless possibilities for all.
