The whole school community at Sacred Heart in Byermoor have been busy making their Live Simply pledges. As a school, children and staff enjoy putting their faith in to action and want to make a stand to care for our common home.

The Eco Council team have been involved in fantastic projects such as making bird feeders, litter picking in the local community, holding an e-waste amnesty and a pre-loved toy sale, to name just a few! The children are so passionate about living simply and sustainably.

Emma Reid, Live Simply Coordinator, says, “The children have been inspired by the Pope’s message about caring for our common home. Children in our school take great pride in caring for our school and local community. We are passionate about making a difference.

An allotment is also in the making on the school grounds and will be a source of freshly grown vegetables. Children will soon be given the opportunity to care and grow their own food. This promotes living simply and enables them to think about those less fortunate around the world.
