Prayer Vigils
A prayer vigil for peace in Israel and Gaza is held each Saturday morning from 9.30am to 10.00am outside the Abbey in Hexham. All are welcome to join, even if just for a few minutes.
Prayers for peace in Gaza and Israel are offered each Thursday at Our Lady Immaculate and St Cuthbert RC Church, Crook from 7.00pm to 7.30. All are welcome.
The next Interfaith Prayer vigil will be on Sunday 6 October at 3.00pm – 3.45pm at the barrier to the Derwentside Immigration Removal Centre, Corbridge Road, Medomsley DH8 6QY.
If you cannot attend in person, perhaps you could join us in prayer from home. There is an online version of the vigil on the Diocesan website, which you can find here.

Sustainable Living
The Justice and Peace Co-ordinating Council is committed to following Pope Francis’ call to care for our common home. We want to promote sustainable living which will benefit all society.
Each month we will be suggesting actions that promote sustainable living. This month we want to focus on being an energy-saving guru at home.
To reduce energy bills and your carbon footprint at home:
- Switch off appliances when not in use.
- Turn off lights when not in the room.
- Use energy efficient lightbulbs.
- Turn down the heating by 1 degree.
- Install a low-flow showerhead.
- Fit a smart meter to monitor energy use.
- Switch to a 100% renewable energy supplier.
