Prayer Vigils
A prayer vigil for peace in Israel and Gaza is held each Saturday morning from 9.30am to 10.00am outside the Abbey in Hexham. All are welcome to join, even if just for a few minutes. On the last Saturday of each month there are prayers inside the Abbey at the end of the vigil.
Prayers for peace in Gaza and Israel are also offered each Thursday at Our Lady Immaculate and St Cuthbert RC Church, Crook from 7.00 – 7.30pm. All are welcome.
The next Interfaith Prayer vigil will be on Sunday 2 February at 3.00 – 3.45pm at the barrier to the Derwentside Immigration Removal Centre, Corbridge Road, Medomsley DH8 6QY.
If you cannot attend in person, perhaps you could join us in prayer from home. There is an online version of the vigil on the Diocesan website, which you can find here.

The Justice & Peace Co-ordinating Council Annual General Meeting
Our AGM will be held on Saturday 8 February from 10.30am to 3.00pm. It well be held in the meeting room at St Marys Cathedral, Newcastle (opposite the central station).
The morning will be facilitated by Pat Devlin who will be delivering part of the training programme, ‘Listening from the Heart‘ devised by the Parents Circle – Families Forum, which brings together bereaved Israeli and Palestinian families.
The central part of this training is video dialogues between bereaved Palestinians and bereaved Israelis which have been created specifically for this moment of time. As well as sharing their stories and their journeys from revenge seeking grief to joint peace-making work, they also ask each other questions about the current situation. We hope as many people as possible will join us for what will be a powerful presentation. This month’s tip for sustainable living: Carbon Footprint Calculator
Faced with record global temperatures, extreme weather events with millions of people around the world suffering the impact of climate breakdown, it can be difficult to know how to respond. One positive action we can all take is to estimate our own carbon footprint and understand how to lessen our environmental impact. Hope comes through action, however small.
This month we invite everyone to access the WWF carbon footprint calculator, which will give a concise analysis of your carbon footprint along with some ideas for reducing it.
