In 1953 the year of the Queen’s coronation, the World Congress of Faiths held the first ever ‘all faiths’ service to mark Queen Elizabeth’s Coronation.
Throughout her long life the Queen was a devout believer who found comfort in her belief and trust in God. In her roles as both Head of State and the Commonwealth she always displayed great respect in her recognition of different religions.
Her Christmas broadcasts will be fondly remembered for addressing the need for religious tolerance and understanding. Many ceremonial occasions were attended by multi faith leaders, as she embraced diversity.
We mourn the passing of a much-loved Queen. Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Amen.
