It is with great sadness that we have to inform you of the death of Fr Patrick Kennedy who died on Monday 4 March 2024, aged 87.
Please pray for the repose of Fr Kennedy’s soul.
Fr Patrick will be received into the Chapel at The Little Sisters of the Poor, Waterford, Ireland on Wednesday 6 March and his funeral will take place there on Thursday 7 March at 11.00am. He will then be buried in his family plot. A livestream of the Requiem Service can be viewed by clicking here.

Fr Patrick Kennedy, born 14 March 1937, died on Monday 4 March 2024; he was 87 years of age.
Fr Patrick was ordained to the priesthood on 17 June 1962. He has faithfully served the people of our Diocese in the following parishes:

Felling: St Patrick, August 1962 – May 1966
Tudhoe: St Charles, May 1966 – October 1969
Hebburn: St Aloysius, October 1969 – November 1976
South Shields: St Gregory, November 1976 – January 1980
Priest-in-Charge:
Newton Aycliffe: St Joseph, January 1980 – October 1993
Parish Priest:
Benton: St Aidan, October 1993 – September 2006
Retired:
September 2006 – March 2024
