Call for Prayers and Solidarity

In light of the recent evil attacks on Jewish people in Golders Green which occurred after similar evil attacks on the Jewish community across the country, on behalf of our diocesan family I wish to make clear our abhorrence of such evil and our solidarity with the Jewish communities across our Diocese. I thank those communities for their welcome and friendship, which they show to me personally and to all comers. It is a privilege to pray with them, receive their generous hospitality, socialise together and dialogue on how best to serve our communities.

Such evil attacks will never defeat our respect for all people. Whether people of faith or not. We must all be minded of our words and actions to ensure we promote the dignity of the person and the common good. Extremism in all its forms that leads to bigoted hatred, and threatens violence and terror must always be challenged and reported to the authorities.

I invite us all to pray for our Jewish neighbours and to stand with them. It is totally unacceptable that they should fear such violence.

A prayer shared by our Diocesan Interreligious Team

“Source of life,
Protect those who live under the shadow of fear and guard them from hatred and harm.
Grant strength to the weary, courage to the anxious and comfort to the broken hearted.
May we soon see a time when violence ends and all people dwell in their homes and communities in safety.
‘Baruch Atah Adonai, Shomer Amo Yisrael’
Blessed are YOU, Eternal One, Guardian of your people Israel.”
