The children at English Martyrs’ Catholic Primary School ‘Come and See team’ thought it would be a lovely idea to donate their ‘Harvest festival’ food collection to local causes and people who need it the most. The Year 6 House Captains helped deliver the food hampers to Joe’s Place, a local charity in Gateshead.
Joe’s Place helps people in the local area, including those who are homeless, have little or no money, are living with addiction or have mental health issues. The children were also given a tour of the facility, and could see first-hand what an incredible job the volunteers do, for local people in need.
The generous donations by the school community also helped local families in the parish who needed some help and the charity Feeding Families, whom Miss Moran ran the Great North Run for in September.
English Martyrs is part of the Bishop Bewick Catholic Education Trust.
