Thank you to all Headteachers and Catholic Education Trusts leaders who joined us yesterday at our annual Bishop’s Day Conference in Durham.
The day was an opportunity to discern how we continue to form school communities that cultivate resilience, spiritual depth and a hopeful world view in our young people.
Bishop Stephen spoke of our ‘collective endeavor as One Diocesan Family‘ and in thanking delegates for their ministry reflected on the ‘presence of the Lord in our schools‘ that he had witnessed during joyful visits, assemblies and, often heartwarming, questions from the children.
Guest speaker Fr Eamonn Conway presented an understanding of Pope Leo XIV’s vision for our schools and educating for a hopeful future. Considering Magnifica Humanitas, Fr Eamonn also reminded us of Pope Francis words that education is ‘one of the most effective ways of making our world and history more human… a matter of love and responsibility handed down from one generation to another.’
Our celebration of Mass was accompanied by the always moving vocals from students from Carmel College and recognition for retiring colleagues.
