The following clergy retirements or appointments have been announced across the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle, which have happened over the summer or are due to take place in the near future.
Retirements:
- Fr John James will continue to reside at St Agnes Presbytery, Crawcrook.
- Fr James O’Keefe will reside at Sacred Heart Presbytery, Boldon Colliery.
- Canon Ian Patterson will reside at Sacred Heart Presbytery, North Gosforth.
- Canon Dennis Tindall will reside in Nottingham

- Fr James Angus is to be Parish Priest of the Parish of St John Boste, West Durham and continuing as Parish Priest of the Parish of Our Lady and St Thomas, Willington (residing at St Joseph’s Presbytery, Ushaw Moor).
- Fr David Coxon is to be Parish Priest of the Parish of St Mary and St Wilfred, Bishop Auckland (residing at St Mary’s Presbytery, Bishop Auckland).
- Fr Anthony Currer is to be Parochial Administrator of St Teresa, Darlington, continuing as Parish Priest of St Augustine, Darlington (continuing to reside at St Augustine’s Presbytery, Darlington).
- Fr Kevin Dixon is to be Parochial Administrator of the Parishes of SS William of York & Francis de Sales and St Anne, Darlington, continuing as Parish Priest of the Parishes of St Thomas Aquinas and The Holy Family, Darlington (continuing to reside at St Thomas Aquinas Presbytery, Darlington).
- Fr William Nicol is to be Parochial Administrator of the Parish of St Andrew, Newcastle and continuing as Parish Priest of the Parish of St Michael, Newcastle and Assistant Priest at the Cathedral (residing at St Andrew’s Presbytery, Newcastle).
- Fr Greg Price is to be Assistant Priest of the Parishes of St John Boste, West Durham and Our Lady and St Thomas, Willington (residing at Our Lady and St Thomas Presbytery, Willington).
- Fr Jonathan Rose is to be Parish Priest of the Parish of St Agnes, Crawcrook and continuing as Parish Priest of the Parish of St Mary and St Thomas Aquinas, Stella (continuing to reside at St Mary and St Thomas Aquinas Presbytery, Stella).
- Fr Paul Smith is returning to his home Diocese of Nottingham. Further information to follow regarding the Parishes of St Bede and St George, Newcastle.
- Canon Martin Stempczyk is to be Parish Priest of the Parishes of St Patrick, Felling and St Alban, Pelaw (residing at St Patrick’s Presbytery, Felling). Further information to follow regarding the Parish of St Mary, Cullercoats & Our Lady and St Oswin, Tynemouth.
- Fr Adrian Tuckwell is to be Parish Priest of the Parishes of Our Lady of Lourdes, Chopwell and St Joseph, Highfield continuing as Parish Priest of the Parishes of St Joseph, Blaydon and St Anne, Winlaton (continuing to reside at St Anne’s Presbytery, Winlaton).
