It was a pleasure to welcome Sister Linda and Sister Mary-John from the Daughters of Divine Charity to this year’s annual retreat for school lay chaplains. The sisters led a series of thought-provoking sessions, offering participants the opportunity to reflect on their individual temperaments and how these gifts contribute to building up the Church.

The retreat also provided a valuable time for prayer and reflection. Father Shaun Purdy joined the group to lead prayer and celebrate Mass on the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, enriching the spiritual experience for all present.

Participants spoke warmly about the impact of the retreat:

“Attending the Diocesan lay chaplains’ retreat this year was much needed at this point in the academic year. Sister Linda and Sister Mary-John led us through thought-provoking sessions on our different temperaments, reminding us that, like the disciples, we are a mixed but chosen group. We all have a purpose, and God has made us just as He wants us.”
Anne Marie

“The retreat was spiritually uplifting. It was wonderful to share our faith and our experiences of chaplaincy work with others. The sisters were inspirational and full of authentic faith.”
Peter

The retreat also offered time for fellowship, friendship, and shared meals, strengthening the sense of community among chaplains.

Grateful thanks are extended to Sister Linda and Sister Mary-John for their inspirational leadership, and to Father Shaun Purdy for guiding the times of prayer and celebrating Mass. Thanks are also due to the Diocesan Education Department for organising this special and enriching opportunity for all involved.
