Two secondary schools in Sunderland will benefit from a grant of £114,538 from SHINE, a charitable organisation dedicated to raising the aspirations and attainment of children from disadvantaged backgrounds. The funds will be used to support disadvantaged pupils in Sunderland as they transition to secondary school.

Four Sixth Form colleges which are part of Bishop Chadwick Catholic Education Trust are to hold their open evenings for students looking to take the next step in their education beyond GCSEs.

A number of secondary schools, all part of Bishop Chadwick Catholic Education Trust, are holding their open days for Primary School pupils in year six.
