For all the Christian churches:
that our quarrelling and division may be brought to an end,
and that we may be of one body and one spirit
as we offer the gospel of salvation to a weary world.
Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
For a more profound love of the Scriptures:
that, in our listening, our reading
and our praying of the Scriptures
our hearts may be opened
to the indwelling of the word of Christ.
Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
For all who are being called to leave their nets of familiar ways
and to walk in the path of discipleship:
that, hearing Christ’s word of invitation,
they may respond with urgency, generosity and trustfulness.
Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
For the nations of the earth in these challenging times:
that the light of God’s grace
may burn away all that seeks to bring confusion and darkness,
and grant courage to those
who work for dialogue, co-operation and peace.
Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
For those within our community
who bear a burden of disease or affliction:
that they may wait for the Lord with confidence
and see his healing goodness at work in their lives.
Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
For all who have died:
that they may live in the house of the Lord
and gaze upon his beauty for ever more.
