The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School had a truly memorable week filled with excitement, learning and a deep sense of community. The week was a testament to the school’s commitment to fostering strong relationships between children, families, and the wider community.
The children were thrilled to welcome local heroes into their classrooms. Firefighters shared their experiences and safety tips, captivating the young learners with stories and demonstrations. A police officer and her canine partner, Jet, also visited providing an engaging and informative session about their roles in keeping the community safe.
These visits not only enriched the children’s understanding of community services but also allowed them to interact with real-life role models. Adding to the week’s fun, the EYFS hosted a ‘Wacky Walk’ event, inviting parents to join in the fun. Children, parents and staff donned creative costumes, turning the walk into a vibrant parade of imagination and joy.
Laura Burgess, Early Years Leader, expressed her gratitude and pride in the week’s events,
“Community is at the heart of our school. This week was a real sign that community matters and we are so lucky to be in such a supportive school family.”
Her words reflect the ethos of St Joseph’s, where every child is valued, and the bonds between school and community are cherished. The week was a beautiful reminder of the power of community and the positive impact it has on the development and well-being of all children. St Joseph’s continues to be a place where children grow, learn, and thrive together with the support of their families and community.
