Prayer Vigils

A prayer vigil for peace in Israel and Gaza is held each Saturday morning from 9.30am to 10.00am outside the Abbey in Hexham. All are welcome to join, even if just for a few minutes. On the last Saturday of each month there are prayers inside the Abbey at the end of the vigil.

Prayers for peace in Gaza and Israel are also offered each Thursday at Our Lady Immaculate and St Cuthbert RC Church, Crook from 7.00 – 7.30pm. All are welcome.

The next Interfaith Prayer vigil will be on Sunday 1 June 2025 at 3.00 – 3.45pm at the barrier to the Derwentside Immigration Removal Centre, Corbridge Road, Medomsley DH8 6QY.

If you cannot attend in person, perhaps you could join us in prayer from home. There is an online version of the vigil on the Diocesan website, which you can find here.

You can download our most recent booklet with the prayers and readings we use here.

This month’s tip for sustainable living: Finances, Pensions and Investments

Investigate whether your bank is investing in fossil fuels and if so, consider switching to a sustainable bank. If you have a private pension check with your pension provider whether they invest in fossil fuels and if so write and ask them to divest. Ensure any investments you hold are invested ethically, free from fossil fuels.

More information about switching to a green bank is available from: The Big Bank Switch.

We would welcome feedback, please email Chris Myers at: chrisj.myers57@gmail.com.
