St Cuthbert is not just the patron of our Diocese, but also the patron saint of Ushaw. His feast day, 20 March, was always a major celebration in Ushaw’s days as a seminary, and since the College closed in 2011, is still kept as a special feast.

2025 is a Jubilee year, a year to celebrate everything that is good about our faith, and a year in which we particularly want to celebrate the life and legacy of our patron saint.

On Thursday 20 March, Mass will be celebrated in St Cuthbert’s Chapel at 12.30pm. An open invitation is extended to all clergy, former students and their families and all parishioners in the Hexham and Newcastle Diocese.

Everyone is very welcome to attend, and there is no need to book. It would be helpful if any clergy wishing to concelebrate could let the Ushaw sacristy team know in advance to help with planning, by emailing: christine.brennan61@gmail.com.
