Fr Kevin Cummins RIP

It is with great sadness that we have to inform you of the death of Fr Kevin Cummins who died on Thursday 12 December 2024.

Please pray for the repose of his soul.

Fr Kevin’s body will be received into St Oswald’s Wrekenton on Thursday 2^nd January with Mass at 6.00pm. Bishop Stephen will celebrate his Requiem Mass at 10.00am on Friday 3 January at St Oswald’s, Wrekenton, followed by cremation at Birtley Crematorium. Fr Kevin’s ashes will be taken to Ireland at a later date.

Fr Kevin Cummins, born 28 January 1941, died on 12 December 2024; he was 83 years of age.

Fr Kevin was ordained to the priesthood on 12 June 1965. He has faithfully served the people of our Diocese in the following parishes:

Curate:

Gateshead: St Joseph, September 1965 – July 1970
Sunderland: St Hilda, July 1970 – July 1975
South Shields: Holy Rosary, July 1975 – November 1976
Hebburn: St Aloysius, November 1976 – January 1980
Newcastle: St Cuthbert, January 1980 – May 1983

Wrekenton: St Oswald, November 1996 – September 2021
