It is with great sadness that we have to inform you of the death of Fr John McElhone who died on Wednesday 28 February 2024, aged 77.
Please pray for the repose of Fr McElhone’s soul.
His Mass of Reception will be on Thursday 21 March at 6.00pm at Our Lady and Saint Aidan’s, Wallsend and his Requiem Mass at 12.00 noon on Friday 22 March.
May he rest in peace.
Fr John McElhone, born 28 June 1947, died on Wednesday 28 February 2024; he was 77 years of age.
Fr John was ordained to the priesthood on 16 July 1977. He has faithfully served the people of our Diocese in the following parishes:

Kenton: St Cuthbert, May 1983 – September 1991
Parish Priest:
Kenton: St Cuthbert, September 1991 – August 1997
Jarrow: St Matthew, August 1997 – July 2002
