It is with great sadness that we have to inform you of the death of Fr John Reid who died on Friday 21 April 2023, aged 75.
Please pray for the repose of Fr Reid’s soul.
Fr John’s body will be received into St Thomas of Canterbury, Wolsingham at 6.00pm on Thursday 4 May and Mass will be celebrated. His Requiem Mass will be at St Thomas of Canterbury on Friday 5 May at 11.00am.
May he rest in peace.
Fr John Reid was born 18 July 1947, died on 21 April 2023; he was 75 years of age.
Fr john was ordained to the priesthood on 7 March 1971 and has faithfully served the people of our Diocese in the following parishes:

Sunderland: St Anne, August 1971 – September 1977
Langley Park: St Joseph, September 1977 – January 1978
Brooms: Our Blessed Lady & St Joseph, January 1978 – October 1988
Parish Priest:
Tow Law: St Joseph, October 1988 – May 1991
Willington: Our Lady & St Thomas, May 1991 – June 2009
Chester-le-Street: St Cuthbert June 2009 – October 2013
On Leave: October 2013 – September 2020
