The Centre for Catholic Studies (CCS) Durham invite you to join them for the next in the Ushaw Lecture Series titled, ‘The Forgotten Women of the Catholic Literary Revival’.

The lecture will be led by Dr Bonnie Lander Johnson (Cambridge University).

The lecture starts at 6.00pm, with drinks reception from 5.30pm.

About the lecture

In the English-speaking world, the Catholic Literary Revival is typically associated with the work of Evelyn Waugh and Graham Greene. But in fact the Revival’s most numerous members were women. While some of these women remain well known, many have been almost entirely forgotten. Now, as their work returns to print, Bonnie Lander Johnson asks how Catholic women writers engaged with the 19th and 20th century literary world in which they lived and wrote.
