And a voice came from heaven, ‘You are my son, the Beloved; my favour rests on you.’

Immediately afterwards the Spirit drove him into the wilderness, and he remained there for forty days…[Mark 1: 11 – 12]

As Howard Thurman said in his lecture, “Mysticism and Jesus”:

“These experiences deepened his sense of self and his intimacy with God… they made him sure of God’s presence, love and commission for a ministry of love…”

We too need this time with God, in order to affirm us, so that we can live out our own ‘ministry of love’ in our times.

So, in this Season of Lent, why not join us online (via Zoom) for the following Sycamore sessions, which will focus on knowing God and our response to this in faith, freedom and love.

The sessions will take place on Thursdays throughout Lent from 7.00pm to 8.15pm:

  • Thursday 15 February: ‘The Existence of God
  • Thursday 22 February: ‘Who is Jesus?’
  • Thursday 29 February: ‘The Holy Spirit and the Church
  • Thursday 7 March: ‘The Gift of Faith
  • Thursday 14 March: ‘Finding True Freedom
  • Thursday 21 March: ‘The Meaning of Love

The sessions will take place on Zoom every Thursday in Lent, from 15 February until 21 March at 7.00pm.

All are welcome! Each session can stand alone, so there is no obligation to attend all if you can’t commit to every week. Some of you may have had experience of Sycamore previously, so we’ll be using an alternative set of questions which will give you more opportunities to reflect on your own experiences of faith.

Please register your interest to receive the Zoom link. You can do this by completing the online form or by calling the admin team on 0191 243 3316.
