Mercy Hub

Vicariate for Caritas

Welcome

Running out of the Newcastle Deaf Centre in Summerhill Square, the Mercy Hub works so that disadvantaged families in Newcastle can integrate, flourish and be happy.

The project aims to create opportunities for families living in the more deprived areas of Newcastle. It does this by providing opportunities for people to come together for enjoyment and learning, whilst building a peer support community across racial and ethnic boundaries that can support families to access the specialist services they need.

You can find out more about us and what we do on our website.

Projects

Holiday Club

The Mercy Hub Holiday Club aims to address a lack of opportunity and food during the school holidays.

In the Summer 2021, the project worked with:

  • 38 families with 67 children
  • 23 activities: sports, dance, arts and crafts, Make a Movie, Take a Tour, Seaham Harbour and Family Fun Day
  • 13 volunteers
  • Partnered with multiple organisations: StreetGames, YMT, Success4All and National Citizen Service

The aim of the Church is to bring about the Kingdom of God, a kingdom of truth and life, a kingdom of holiness and grace, a kingdom of justice, love, and peace.
