Lay Chaplains from across the Diocese gathered together on Thursday 17 September at St Andrew’s Church for a special Recommissioning Mass with Bishop Stephen, celebrating their invaluable ministry and commitment to nurturing Catholic life and mission within our schools.

The Mass provided a meaningful opportunity for Lay Chaplains, school leaders, staff, and students from across the Diocese to come together in prayer and reflection. United in faith, those present celebrated the vital role Lay Chaplains play in supporting the spiritual growth of our school communities and helping to ensure that Christ remains at the heart of school life.
Through prayer, worship, and shared reflection, the celebration encouraged all present to deepen their understanding of their faith and the values that unite us as Catholic communities. Students and adults alike were reminded of the importance of living out the Gospel message through service, compassion, and witness in their daily lives.

The recommissioning of our Lay Chaplains was a powerful affirmation of their dedication to bringing Catholic life and mission alive in our schools. Celebration and thanks was given for their role in supporting pupils and staff on their faith journeys and helping school communities grow ever closer to God.

It was a joyful and inspiring occasion, strengthening the bonds between our schools and reaffirming our shared commitment to faith, hope, and service across the Diocese.
