The communion procession poses a particular practical difficulty for musicians. We’re encouraged to sing while communion takes place, but how does this work? Do people have to take hymn books with them, or just listen to the choir singing instead? ‘We come to your table’ is a collection of songs in responsorial format for cantor and congregation, simple, accessible, and memorable, which work beautifully as music for the communion rite.

These pieces work with a variety of resources; cantor, cantor and choir, organ/keyboard, and guitar. Many come with choral harmonisations/descants and instrumental parts for the more adventurous parish music setup. The music is covered by OneLicense so melody parts can be copied for congregations in bulletins or service sheets, but the refrains are so simple that this should be only rarely necessary.
