Children from a Sunderland school are very ‘egg-cited’ to raise cute little chicks! The Reception-age children at St Leonard’s Catholic Primary School, which is part of Bishop Chadwick Catholic Education Trust, were in “complete awe” watching the chicks hatch and have been inspired to write about their new friends in class too.

St Leonard’s Catholic Primary School choir was thrilled to be asked to sing at a fundraising event for the Marie Curie charity with Fishburn Brass Band at Sunderland Minster and spent hours learning and practising eight songs, led by choir lead Ashleigh Hayes.

‘Work hard, play hard’ could be the motto of a Sunderland primary school where young pupils have excelled in all aspects this term. The school’s Year 6 children smashed their SATs out of the park, achieving a 100% pass rate at the age expected standard across all exams, as well as in their writing moderation.
