Our Spiritual Legacy
“I went earlier this year with my sister and her husband to Church Hill, Alnmouth in Northumberland which marks the place where St Cuthbert was elected to be bishop of Hexham in the year 684AD at the synod of Twyford.
“Technically he never served there as he was changed to the bishopric of Lindisfarne and died three years later in 687AD.
“It is now an isolated site south of Alnmouth as the river Aln changed its course during a storm. It’s situated on a little hill surmounted by a cross now above.
“While I was there I did some prayers in the little chapel.”
