It is with great sadness that we have to inform you of the death of Fr John Gibbons who died on Saturday 23 December 2023, aged 85.
Please pray for the repose of Fr Gibbons’s soul.
Fr John’s body will be received into Sacred Heart Church, Boldon Colliery on Tuesday 9 January at 6.30pm and Mass will be celebrated. Bishop Stephen will celebrate his Requiem Mass at 12.45pm on Wednesday 10 January at Sacred Heart Church, this will be followed by burial at Jarrow Cemetery.

Fr John Gibbons, born 28 July 1938, died on 23 December 2023; he was 85 years of age.
Fr John was ordained to the priesthood on 8 June 1963. He has faithfully served the people of our Diocese in the following parishes:
